Explore the Benefits of Diving with Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx)

Are you looking to extend your No-Deco-time, reduce fatigue, and dive safer? Discover the advantages of diving with Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx), a popular alternative to regular air that can enhance your diving experience.

What is Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx)?

Enriched Air Nitrox is a type of breathing gas that has a higher percentage of oxygen (O2) compared to regular air, which contains approximately 21% oxygen. Nitrox typically contains between 32% and 36% oxygen, with the remainder being nitrogen. This adjustment in oxygen content provides several key benefits for recreational divers.

Key Benefits of Diving with Nitrox:

• Extended No-Deco-time: With the reduced amount of nitrogen in the mix, your body absorbs less nitrogen during your dive, which allows you to extend your No-Deco-time safely at certain depths..
• Shorter Surface Intervals: Nitrox reduces the nitrogen buildup in your tissues, which can allow for shorter surface intervals between dives. This means more time to explore the underwater world.
• Reduced Risk of Decompression Sickness: Because you are breathing a higher concentration of oxygen, the absorption of nitrogen is slower, reducing the risk of decompression sickness (DCS). This is especially beneficial when making multiple dives in a single day.
• Reduced Fatigue: Many divers report feeling less fatigued after diving with Nitrox, as the increased oxygen content can help reduce the overall workload on your body.

How Does It Work?

Training and Certification:

When diving with Nitrox, it’s crucial to understand the relationship between oxygen, depth, and time. Higher oxygen levels mean that divers can safely spend less time at deeper depths. To dive safely with Nitrox, divers need to plan their dives carefully and use a dive computer or dive tables designed for Nitrox to ensure they stay within safe limits.

While diving with Nitrox can be an incredibly rewarding experience, it requires proper training and certification. A Nitrox certification course teaches you how to:

• Understand the gas mixture and its effects on your dive profile
• Use dive tables or dive computers specifically for Nitrox
• Set and adjust your dive plan to stay within safe limits
• Maintain the equipment needed for Nitrox diving

Is Nitrox Right for You?

Enriched Air Nitrox is ideal for divers who:

• Frequently dive to moderate depths (up to 130 feet or 40 meters)
• Enjoy extended dive time and the flexibility to dive multiple times in a single day
• Want to reduce post-dive fatigue
• Are looking to dive with an extra margin of safety
